re:Invent 2022 – Innovation
In nutshell: The world is asynchronous. A big focus on asynchronous and event-driven architectures. A lot of exciting announcements around serverless and software development.
To make it easier to deepen a knowledge, I have categorised the videos I am interested in according to:
- Innovation
- Infrastructure
- Data and AI
- Security
- Costs
- Use Cases
Today I am sharing the Innovation part.
All below comes from a public AWS channel, I only share selected and classified by me, the texts come from AWS youtube channel, links in the description.
- Keynote with Dr. Werner Vogels
Dr. Werner Vogels, Amazon.com VP and CTO, talks about the benefits of building asynchronous, loosely coupled systems and how event-driven architecture enables global scale. He then explains how the cloud is enabling customers to build more immersive experiences using 3D and how simulation is empowering customers to experiment and innovate in new ways.

- Amazon’s culture of innovation
Amazon’s approach to innovation has remained consistent since the company first launched—start with the customer and work backwards. In this session, learn about Amazon’s peculiar culture and how Amazon innovates through four distinct, yet interdependent, elements: culture, mechanisms, architecture, and organisation. Dive deep on each topic and learn more about practical applications, including Leadership Principles, working backwards, two-pizza teams, the PRFAQ doc, and why it’s always Day 1 at Amazon and AWS.

- Building for a better future: Agility, speed, and resilience
As we move into the next stage of normalcy, organizations must adapt and innovate to keep up with the constantly evolving global landscape and the changing needs of end users and constituents. In this session, join Max Peterson, VP of AWS Worldwide Public Sector, for a discussion with Dr. Peggy Whitson, astronaut, and Matthew Fraser, Chief Technology Officer for New York City, about how the transformative power of the cloud is enabling organizations to move with speed and agility while ensuring that mission-critical workloads stay secure and protected. Hear these leaders’ innovative stories and gain insights that will help you reimagine what’s possible.

- What we can learn from customers: Accelerating innovation at AWS Security
In this leadership session, CJ Moses, CISO at AWS, showcases part of the peculiar AWS culture of innovation—the working backwards process—and how new security products, services, and features are built with the customer in mind. AWS Security continuously innovates based directly on customer feedback so that organizations can accelerate their pace of innovation while integrating powerful security architecture into the heart of their business and operations. Hear from CJ how organizations use the latest AWS security innovations to ship securely, ship faster, and maximize the value of their teams.

- Your data: How you need it, where you need it, when you need it
Organizations at the forefront of digital transformation are using modern application architectures like microservices as adaptive mechanisms for delivering value to customers at high velocity. Data is subject to the tremendous force of data gravity, often in the form of one-size-fits-all databases that represent an obstacle rather than a conduit for agility and velocity. In this session Jeff Carter, VP of Databases and Migrations at AWS, describes how AWS purpose-built data services can overcome these challenges and shares a vision for achieving “data anti-gravity.” Hear how Disney and Intuit migrated to multiple AWS fully managed databases to build faster and scale further than previously possible.

- Emotional intelligence can supercharge innovation
Innovation requires more than just IQ and technical skills. It’s a cognitive process, but it’s also an emotional one. Research has found that innovation has more to do with determination, grit, and psychological safety than it does with pure intellect. These are squarely in the realm of emotional intelligence. This session is intended to help you learn how to tap into this often-underrated side of your brain and supercharge your focus, creativity, and innovation.

- Pioneering the future of learning
Learn how one of the world’s largest education companies rebuilt their education platform to seize the opportunity that digital teaching offers over a physical classroom. EF Education First’s new immersive online classroom is creating a revolution in learning for millions of students across more than 160 countries. In this session, see a demo of EF’s end-to-end education platform, which uses data insights from AWS to change education from an intuition into a science.

- Innovation, intersection, and scale
Join this session to dive deep into how ADP worked with AWS to achieve a level of engineering innovation and speed that helped bring more customers along on their journey to create HR tech. Learn about why this journey matters and how the team reached their goals in practice. Find out from leaders how AWS helped embed innovation in the work of DEI at scale. The session offers a detailed look at the specifics of progress toward solving data problems at the intersection of DEI and tech.

- Cloud operations: A catalyst for innovation
Migrating to the cloud can be challenging to accomplish with agility while remaining secure and well-operated. In this session, join George Irwin, Director of Engineering at Singapore Press Holdings Media, to hear about lessons learned from their journey to modernization. Explore the role that AWS Managed Services (AMS) played in accelerating their adoption of cloud operations best practices. Discover how Singapore Press Holdings is scaling their cloud transformation and laying the foundation for innovation in the cloud with AWS. Learn how AMS provides critical operational capabilities, such as vulnerability management and proactive monitoring and incident management, that help extend customers’ operational capabilities and improve their security posture.
